Why should I purchase from an FSC Certified Company?

Why should I procure products from an FSC Certified Company?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-profit international non-governmental organization established to guide businesses and consumers in the forest decision making mechanism worldwide. The FSC’s manifesto is to set standards for forest management and the proper use of forest products globally. Instead of merely independently auditing, documenting, and labelling related products.

The FSC was established in Bonn, Germany in 1993 as a reaction to worldwide forest destruction. Since QTD Ltd.’s establishment we have become an FSC Certified company. Due to the fact that we obtain our raw materials from sustainably certified forests. We are regularly inspected and are proud to embody the FSC badge on our products.

It is important to understand that the FSC certification chain must be a continuous process from the felling of tree logs through to the end user (the customer). This process, in turn, means that end users can effectively trace their materials back to an individual tree.

It is illegal for companies to sell FSC timber unless they are FSC certified themselves. This unbroken chain is important in the global fight against illegal logging and heavy fines are imposed on those found in breach of FSC’s stringent rules.

PEFC is the Largest Forest Certification System in the world.

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) was established in 1999 in the form of an umbrella organization that provides recognition of independent assessments, turnover and national forest certification systems. In response to the special needs of small and family-owned forests. The purpose of its establishment is in response to the need for a mechanism for independent progress and implementation of national standards. According to the political, social, economic, environmental and cultural realities of the countries tasked with ensuring internationally accepted conditions and full compliance with global disclosure.

The programme supports sustainable forest management through third party forest certification. The PEFC system guarantees that all processes such as the chain of custody, forest protection, processing, conversion, production from raw material (trees) to the consumer are adhered to. QTD since being established are PEFC certified, and manage all processes according to their transparent system.
