Elevate Your Design with our Bespoke Black Wood Cladding
Meticulously hand-crafted to deliver a customised finish that elevates the aesthetic of any building. Exclusively produced by QTD, the UK's sole manufacturer of Charring Thermally Modified (ThermoWood) timber, our Black Wood Cladding collection embodies the pinnacle of design and durability.

Unmatched Durability and Resistance
Fire-Resistant:
Each board undergoes a thorough charring process, significantly enhancing its fire resistance. ThermoWood®'s unique treatment reduces natural resins and moisture content, stabilising the timber and minimising ignition risks.
UV Protection:
Our heavy charring technique not only enriches the board's robustness against the elements but also means that the Char is UV-resistant, the QFlex® sealer helps retain the char and therefore reducing the need for frequent maintenance.
Aesthetic Appeal
Unique Black Wood Cladding Finish:
No two boards are identical; each showcases a distinct charred pattern, adding a unique character to your façade.
Wide Range of Sizes and Custom Options:
Available in various widths from 40mm to 150mm and lengths up to 3.6m, with bespoke sizes upon request to meet specific design needs.

Durable Fire-Treated Black Wood Cladding Tested by UKAS Accredited Labs
We can provide the option of Fire treating your material in our treatment tank so that there is complete absorption into the cell structure of the timber to give you complete confidence that should the worst happen, the material will not become an ignition source for any potential spread of fire. This is a more thorough and comprehensive process compared to just surface painting on treatment.
On successful application and drying time which depending on the material may take up to 5 days to fully cure into the cell structure. The solution is clear in colour so will not change the colour of the timber should you not require additional surface finishes.
In collaboration with 'fire solution' manufacturer QTD will supply you with a countersigned certificate to confirm that treatment has been applied in accordance with strict application guidelines to:
BS EN 13501-1 2007 + A1 2009: Reaction to fire classification: B-s2 d0 (Min thickness 12mm).
BS476 Part 6 and 7 Class 1 & Class 0
UL 723 / ASTM E84-A11 Steiner Tunnel Test.
All of our independent tests are performed By UKAS accredited laboratories in the UK.

It has become a highly sought-after finish in architecture for several compelling reasons. Its unique aesthetics, stability, durability, and ecological benefits make it an attractive choice for architects and builders aiming to combine style and longevity with functionality.
